Website Redesign

A Website Redesign That Makes Your Phone Ring Again

Website redesign services for small businesses: a new design, new words and your Google rankings kept safe, all from one expert.

If your site went up five or more years ago, it was built for a different internet. Today most visitors show up on a phone, decide in a few seconds, and leave if they can't tell what you do. I rebuild small business websites in WordPress so they look current, load fast and give people a reason to call.

Drag the handle to see the difference. (An example, not a real client.)

Is it time?

Signs It's Time for a Redesign

You hesitate to send people to it.

It looks dated, and you know it.

It's a pain on a phone.

Tiny text, pinching and zooming, buttons too small to tap.

You can't update it yourself.

Or you're afraid to touch it in case something breaks.

It doesn't show up on Google.

Not for the things you actually sell.

Visitors don't call.

People land on it, but the phone stays quiet.

Something's broken and nobody can fix it.

The person who built it is long gone.

If two or more of those sound familiar, a few tweaks probably won't do it.

What you get

Everything a Redesign Should Include

A while back, I reviewed more than 200 websites in a single industry. Most of them were missing at least one of three things: a real understanding of the customer, words that persuade, and a design that makes it easy to say yes. A good redesign fixes all three. Here's what's included.

Design

A fresh design built for your customers

WordPress, built for phones first, with a clear path to "Contact Me" on every page.

Copy

New words, written by me

Most designers pour your old text into a new template. I rewrite it, because the words are what get people to pick up the phone. I've been writing marketing copy for more than 20 years.

SEO

SEO from day one

I research what your customers type into Google, then build your page titles, headings and copy around it.

Rankings

Your Google rankings protected

Every old page address gets redirected to its new home, so the links Google already knows about keep working.

Tracking

Tracking that works on launch day

I check Google Analytics, Search Console and any ad tracking before and after launch.

Local

Your Google Business Profile matched up

Same name, phone number and website link everywhere, which helps you show up in local searches.

A simple guide for making updates

Written in plain English, for you, not for a developer.

Protecting what you've built

The Redesign Mistake That Wipes Out Rankings

A website redesign can undo years of Google progress in a single weekend.

Here's how it happens. The new site goes live. The old page addresses disappear. Every link Google knew about now leads to an error page, and your rankings slide. Often the tracking code doesn't make the move either, so nobody notices for months.

Before your new site launches, I map every old page to its new address and test your tracking. It's not glamorous work. It's the part that protects everything you've already built.

Real projects

Before and After

Jim Kleefeld Live Oct 2026
Before

A hand-coded website that hadn't been updated since 2019, holding a catalog of 124 products that had become a headache to manage.

After

A WordPress site with a real online store and PayPal checkout, which went live in October 2026.

Renegade Magic Live Aug 2026
Before

Their website builder broke the demo videos on their product pages, and they couldn't fix it. Every product page told customers to email for a link.

After

A rebuilt WordPress site where the videos play right on the product page again.

I recently redesigned my website with Cris Johnson, and I couldn't be happier with the results! He successfully realized my concept and gave my brand a much improved internet presence. … In addition, his SEO approach increased my website and Google Ads traffic significantly.

The process

How a Redesign Works With Me

Five steps, and you see your new site before a single page gets built.

  1. 1I look under the hood.I review your current site, your Google rankings and what's working, so we keep the good parts.
  2. 2We plan the pages and I write the copy. You'll know exactly what's on every page before any design work starts.
  3. 3You see it before it's built.I build a clickable mockup of your new site. You comment on it, and we adjust until you love it.
  4. 4I build, test and launch.Redirects, tracking, speed and phone checks all happen before your new site goes live.
  5. 5I keep watching after launch. For the first few weeks, I check Google Search Console for errors so small problems stay small.

Pricing

What Does a Website Redesign Cost?

It depends on a few things, and I'd rather explain them than hand you a number that doesn't fit.

A five-page site for a local service business and a 200-product online store are different projects. After a free call, I'll send you a clear quote with everything spelled out, so there are no surprises later.

FAQ

Website Redesign Questions

Don't see yours? Ask me directly. I answer every message myself.

Contact Me
How long does a website redesign take?

Most small business redesigns take a few weeks from the approved plan to launch. A large online store takes longer. I'll give you a timeline with your quote.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if the redesign is done right. Redirecting your old pages and keeping your best content is a big part of how I work.

Do I have to switch to WordPress?

Not necessarily. I recommend WordPress for most businesses because you own your site and it's built for SEO. If you're on Wix or Squarespace and would rather stay, we'll talk it through on our call.

Can I keep my logo and colors?

Yes. Or we can refresh them. It's your call.

Will I be able to update it myself?

Yes. You'll get a simple guide, and I'm a phone call away if you get stuck.

Ready to Stop Apologizing for Your Website?

Send me your web address and tell me what's bugging you about it. I'll take a look before we talk.
